BigBen games just put a new video about the WRC 8 Career mode.
The video discusses 3 important points in the career mode:
- The calendar.
I am not sure what to say about that one, yes there is a calendar of rallies and you need to keep an eye on it.
- You need to recruit and manage your team.
That is pretty nice and interesting. Apparently, you will need to hire a mechanic, an agent, an engineer, a meteorologist, and two other unknown crew member. One actually seems to be a physical therapist but no idea for the last one.
You will need to balance between have good people in your team but also being able to pay their salary.
- Related to the previous one, there will be a skill-tree
So basically you will accumulate some experience and points that you can use to either upgrade the performance of the car, or the reliability but also for your team
The last bit partially related to all of that is that WRC 8 will get dynamic weather, meaning that you could start a Rally under the sun and end it in the rain. So they are preparing a lot in term of strategy and not only racing, which is definitely something missing in race car games. I also like a lot how the “office” looks like in the game.
As a reminder, the game will offer new off-road physics for all surfaces, 52 teams, 14 countries, over 100 special stages, weekly challenges, and an eSports mode.
WRC 8 will release in September 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
