Atari unveil the Atari VCS

Yes, you read it well, Atari is releasing a new console: the Atari VCS (Video Computer System). But what the hell is that? Well, more it is more than a console and almost a PC, with an AMD Ryzen processor, Radeon GPU and either 4 or 8gb of rams.

The Atari VCS is an open platform capable of booting up and running multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.) to access games, content, and apps available online. This can be done by simply attaching an external USB drive that has the desired OS installed. It is also possible to connect to the console USB or Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, controllers, and most other PC peripherals.

Because it is similar to a computer, it is also possible to run some apps like Netflix, Hulu, Twitch or even Youtube. Good to mention that the console supports 4K streaming video and perfect emulation.

The console actually launches into a dashboard, which presents a selection of games, plus a navigation menu of destinations like the Atari store, apps, and settings. The dashboard is anchored by a window in the center that can reboot the system into the Atari Sandbox mode, to connect to an operating system.

For the moment the console is only available for US customers and does cost $249.99 for the base model and up to $389.99l. It seems a lot, but like mentioned, this is the equivalent to a small computer. The classic and modern joystick will be at $49.99 and $59.99 respectively. The console will be available in 2020.

Nintendo E3: Animal Crossing and Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel

Nintendo just finished their Live and revealed a couple of good news and good games.

Starting with a new Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which takes place on a deserted island. This gives a slightly different experience than previously, with a bit more freedom. And that seems to be the keyword of that game: Freedom and personalization. You will, for example, be able to decorate your home, put your home where you want, with a lot of crafting.

A new trailer has been shown for Astral Chain, which will be available August this year (can’t wait for that one!)

For the fans, they have also shown Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition. Which is a way too long name for a game and will be available for the Nintendo Switch on September 27 of this year.

There was also one more trailer for Fire Emblem: Three houses, for July 26. In this Fire Emblem, you will teach one of three houses, each comprised of students with personality and represented by a royal from one of three territories of Fódlan. As their professor, you must lead your students in their academic lives in a turn-based, tactical RPG battle. Your choice of house will affect where you stand when the continent becomes engulfed in war. After 5 years, former friends will have to face each other on the battlefield.

There was also another trailer for MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order, which I am also really waiting for!

Finally, the last and best, a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been announced. Without a lot of details but a nice first trailer.

In other news:
– Nintendo Switch owners will be happy to learn about the soon to come The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, and also of Resident Evil 5 and 6.
– They also announced Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
– Luigi is coming back for a Luigi’s Mansion 3
– Banjo Kazooie is coming to Smash, along with some character of Dragon Quest.
– Nintendo has shown a bit more of the remakes of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and of Trials of Mana.
– And new trailers for Daemon X Machina, No More Heroes 3 and Empire of Sin.

E3 Xbox conference recap

Like always there was a lot of games shown in the E3 Xbox conference. So get ready because there is A LOT of videos in here.

One news from Microsoft was also the start of the Xbox Game Pass, starting today for $1 and giving you access to a big library of games. A nex Xbox Elite Controller Serie 2 was also shown and available for preorder.

The video and games that I am not going to show are:

  • – Forza Horizon Lego because for me that is a heresy, I love Forza and I love Lego but they should not be mixed together.
  • – Age of Empire 2, which is a remaster.
  • – State of Decay Heartland
  • – Battletoads
  • and a couple of other games.

Cyberpunk 2077

Xbox had the chance to show a new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, which includes Keanu Reeves. Yes, THE Keanu Reeves, which is so generous that he gave us the released date … an ouch of April 2020. That is a lot to wait, but well, the Keanu news is helping to wait.

At the same time, they have revealed the Collector Edition which … has way too many inside and that makes it really awesome. Box, figurine, artbook, keychain, guide etc.

The Outer Worlds

The second big trailer was probably The Outer Worlds, with a bit of gameplay, or at least it looks like it. The game is developed by Obsidian. It is made by the creator of Fallout (who is not working with Bethesda anymore) and a lot of people are definitely waiting for it!

Halo Inifinite and Xbox Project Scarlett

No gameplay but definitely a lot of hype in that Halo trailer. The game, however, will be released with the Xbox Project Scarlett next year. The Scarlett is the next console from Microsoft. The only information we had about it was that the loading time will be shorter. Well, thanks for that. Let’s hope that it does offer a bit more than that.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Another good reveal was the soon to come Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Which is actually an RPG available next year. It does not look like an RPG but wait for more information and video about it.

Bleeding Edge

A new game with is a 4×4 multiplayer, and look completely crazy

Gears of War

Definitely some news about Gear of War, and not at all what we were expectedStarting with Gear 5 Escape which is also a multiplayer mode for the game. And followed by a Termniator character pack. Yes, Terminator from the movie. And there was also a trailer for Gear 5 itself but … without any interest honestly.

Dying Light 2

Yes, the second opus from the series got a trailer and it looks a bit more angry than the first one.

Twelve Minutes and Blair Witch

In the nice new games, I would put Twelve Minutes and Blair Witch. The first one is a game where the hero is in a time loop (probably 12 minutes) so you will need to repeat again and again to gather more information and finally understand what is going one. The second one is based on the movie of the same name and is definitely a horror game.

Elden Ring

A game that needs to be mentioned is Elden Ring, considering that GRR Martin is helping the developer. Yes, the same GRR Martin that created Game Of Throne, so we could expect an interesting story in this game. At least we hope so.

Microsoft Flight Simulator

I almost did not put the trailer, but my god those graphism are really impressive!

E3 Bethesda conference recap: Doom Eternal, Deahtloop, GhostWire and more

The E3 Bethesda conference gave us a couple of good things and a couple of strange things.

In the good ones, I would definitely put Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein YoungBlood, Deathloop, and GhostWire. The two last one being new games, but sadly with no images of gameplay.

In the less good, there is Fallout 76, which was acknowledged as having some issues and still trying to be fixed with the addition of NPC. Fallout 76 actually got a free trial starting today.  Another free game is The Elder Scrolls: Blades, and it is a phone game. A Nintendo Switch version will also be available in Fall, and still for free.

I do not know where to put Orion, which is another cloud-based gaming similar to the Google Stradia or Microsoft Cloud. The only detail given about it was the speed, which should be faster on the cloud and also a better bandwidth for people who stream their game online.

And that basically it for the E3 Bethesda conference, just a couple of word on The Elder Scrolls VI, about Rage 2 new content and obviously about the QuakeCon where Bethesda will most likely deliver more information, like every year.

DOOM Eternal

Let’s start with Doom and a Story trailer and a Battlemode multiplayer. In this mode, one player with play the Slayer and two other will be demons. This seems a bit unfair at a start but apparently, this mode will require some strategy, so let see. The game and the mode will be released on November 22 this year and the Collector’s edition got nothing less than a wearable Doom slayer helmet.

Deathloop

Deathloop is the new baby from the people who made the Dishonored games. It set in Blackreef with Colt and Juliana as protagonists, who appears to be fighting each other. it is definitely a first-person action game in an interesting world, but not too much information about it yet. The phrase used by the developers for the game is also full of mystery: “if at first you don’t succeed… die, die again”.

GhostWire: Tokyo

GhostWire: Tokyo got a very mysterious trailer too. As the name suggests, it set place in Japan … and people suddenly disappeared. It is an action-adventure game and not too much information about it either.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

And to finish, a trailer of Wolfenstein: Youngblood with gameplay footage. The music and the graphic design give some kind of 80’s vibe that I personally like!  Can’t wait for it, available on July 26th!
